Our Patients are our Priority
Interventional Cardiology
When coronary artery disease requires more than medication and lifestyle changes, catheter-based treatment may be considered. Brooklyn Heart helps you understand your evaluation and the options relevant to your care.
Understanding Angioplasty and Stents
Coronary angioplasty uses a balloon to widen a narrowed heart artery. A stent is a small mesh tube that may be placed to help keep the artery open.
These procedures are appropriate for selected patients. The recommendation depends on the clinical situation, the location and severity of narrowing, and other health factors.
Make an Informed Treatment Decision
Ask how a proposed intervention compares with medication or other treatment options, what risks it carries, and what follow-up it requires. Your care team can explain the intended benefit in your particular situation.
For scheduled procedures, confirm where treatment will occur and who will perform it.
Ongoing Care Matters
Care continues after a procedure. Follow-up may include medication management, symptom review, and attention to blood pressure, cholesterol, physical activity, and tobacco use. If you have a stent, follow your prescribed medication instructions and discuss any changes with your treating clinician.
